What is Keratoconus?

  • Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease where the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye) thins and bulges outward into a cone shape.
  • This irregular shape distorts vision and often cannot be corrected with traditional glasses or soft contact lenses.

In advanced cases, surgical options may be considered to slow the progression or restore visual function.

How We Help at Gretna Eye & Aesthetics

  • At Gretna Eye & Aesthetics, Dr. Chapman and our experienced team use state-of-the-art technology to screen for and diagnose keratoconus early and accurately.
  • Our doctors are highly trained to manage and treat keratoconus, focusing on improving both visual clarity and quality of life.
  • Most patients with keratoconus are successfully managed with Custom-designed specialty contact lenses, including:
    • Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses
    • Scleral lenses, which vault over the irregular cornea to provide comfort and stability

Our doctors provide Impression-based scleral lens technology – for the most precise and personalized fit possible, ideal for even the most complex corneal shapes.
